The plant is built, the team is hired and the first site opens in October 2026. What follows is how Maji Safi grows from one plant to a hundred locations, and what a partner actually gets involved in.
How the business works
Water is purified at our own plant and sold in 20-litre jars through a refill-and-exchange system. Jars come back, get cleaned, get refilled. Revenue is recurring by design, and the customer's cost per litre falls the longer they stay.
We own the plantNot a reseller or a franchisee. We control the treatment process and the quality testing.
Jars returnThe refill-and-exchange model means a customer is a relationship, not a transaction.
Sites are localLocations can be locally owned or community-owned, run on our quality system and training.
We build the machinesFrom Q4 2027 we manufacture our own water machines in Ethiopia, so each new site is ready before it opens.
The path to 100 locations
Our 2027 steps are committed and our 2028 target is 100 locations, backed by our own machine factory in Ethiopia. Committed means this is where we are going. Join us.

Impact, and when we will report it
We are not publishing impact numbers yet, because we have not served anyone yet. The plant opens in October 2026 and measurement starts with it. We would rather show you nothing than show you a model.
What we will measure
- Litres of safe water delivered, by location
- Households, schools and clinics served
- Independent laboratory results, published as received
- Jars returned and refilled, as a share of jars sold
First report: after the first full quarter of operation. Reported as measured, including the quarters that disappoint.
